Many Events Can Cause Long-Lasting Emotional Wounds

Less Severe Adult Causes

Less severe events (little ’t’ traumas) can cause long-lasting emotional wounds when you are at a particularly vulnerable time such as being pregnant, during prolonged stress, during key transition points in your life or when you have little social support.

Less severe adult causes include:

n   Romantic breakups

n   Being fired from a job

n   Shaming and humiliating experiences

n   Infidelity

n   Feeling rejected or unloved by a spouse

n   Painful procedures (dental visits, medical tests, etc)
